Something Rising (Light and Swift) by Haven Kimmel
Cassie's father has left her with nothing but a grieving mother, a paranoid sister and a love for the game of pool. Her skill with a cue and other odd jobs are often the only things that keep her family afloat. We watch her grow up with too much responsibility and too little opportunity to think about her life options. She finally takes a chance and travels to New Orleans to try and right some of the wrongs of her parents' past and finds a future for herself as well. It is so easy to love some of the characters in this story and hate others.
