The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy by Rachel Joyce

This is the companion novel to The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry.  His story of the long walk  he takes to get to Queenie before she dies has many uplifting moments as the people he meets are inspired by his journey.  Queenie tells her story while she and her friends are in hospice care, living their last moments caught up in Queenie's love story.  With the help of her caretakers, she writes a long long letter in response to the one she received from Harold.  It is a story of hidden love and longing and guilt.  Maybe my favorite part though was listening to the cast of quirky characters in the hospice facility as they faced death with such courage and humor.  Not as hopeful as Harold maybe but a little more affecting.
