Brooklyn by Colm Toibin

Eilis is a young Irish immigrant girl who takes advantage of an opportunity for a better life in Brooklyn, NY.  She survives seasickness and homesickness to find love in her new home.  When a family tragedy sends her briefly back to Ireland, she encounters an even bigger challenge.  It's a gentle story that made an easy to watch movie.
