The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult

There are no good Holocaust stories.  There are heroic, insightful, moving - even inspirational stories.  But never good.  This story of a 21st century relationship between Sage, a damaged young woman, and Josef, a elderly town hero, begins with secrets.  Eventually Leo Stein, an agent from a special branch of the Justice Department, is called in to search for a truth that will change all their lives. This truth lies in the story grudgingly shared by Sage's grandmother.  And of course , there is always the surprise in the end.
