The Music Lesson by Katherine Weber

The Music Lesson in the title of the Vermeer painting that hangs in Buckingham Palace.  Weber imagines the possibility of a radical group stealing that painting while it is in transport from a European exhibit.  Patricia Dolan is the art historian innocently drawn into the theft by a charming Irishman who awakens her from a deep sadness generated by a personal tragedy.  It isn't until she finds herself in a remote Irish village alone with the painting that she begins to question her decision to participate.  We learn the story through a two week diary she keeps during her time in the village.  Part mystery, part romance, a little art history and an interesting experience with "what if".
