Bring up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel
This sequel to Wolf Hall is a much more intriguing read than the first book. Many of the slog factors in the first book were addressed - it is half the size and most of the vague pronoun references are clarified. While in the first book Cromwell directs the sleazy machinations to rid Henry of Catherine and allow his marriage to Anne, in this book he clears the path for Anne's death. In the first book, Cromwell seems a man who has created his own success through his intelligence and hard work. He is much more devious in this book. It seems he doesn't care much what happens to the bodies he must step over to rise in power. I would expect that by the end of book three, we will not be surprised or disappointed by his violent end.
