The Ten Year Nap by Meg Wolitzer
Four smart, successful middle class NYC women give up their jobs for a chance to fully experience motherhood. This is their story 10 years later. Their friendship has been shaped by a life as someone's mom. As each woman ponders how they got where they are and what should happen next, they must confront the reality that the children they gave up so much for are ready to move on. Is the work world they left ready to welcome them back? Do they want to go? What can they do to put the passion back in marriages turned lazy by late night crying, play dates and soccer games? Can they accept the people their children are even if they might not be the children they wanted them to be? An intelligent look at what affects the decisions we make when nap time is over.
