Jackson Brodie is a private investigator working three different cases. What really happened to four year old Olivia 30 years ago?  Who was the man in the yellow sweater who savagely stabbed Theo's daughter years ago? What happened to the daughter of Michelle, the distraught young wife who put an axe in her husbands head?    The stories weave in and out of Jackson's own complicated life.  You might need a cast of characters to keep track but the mysteries make the effort worth it.  If any of these scenario's sound familiar, it is because these were turned into dramas for Masterpiece Mysteries on PBS.  Of course I was almost finished with the book before I figured out why they seemed so familiar.
