22 Britannia Road by Amanda Hodgkinson
A World War ll tragedy but not a Holocaust story. Silvana and Janusz are separated during the early years of the war. He goes off to fight for Poland and she is to take their young son Aurek to live in the country with her in laws. Both lose their way - hiding in the frozen forests, finding occasional safety with the Polish underground and seven years later are reunited as refugees in England. But they are hardly the young lovers they were when the parted and both carry past secrets that may makes the possibility of a happy future together difficult if not impossible.
