My Stroke of Insight by Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D

According to Taylor, while blood vessels burst on the left side of her brain causing a debilitating stroke, the right side of her brain was able to observe and remember exactly what was happening. This is her story of that experience from her first awareness of her brain shutting down to her complete recovery almost eight years later. There is much science about the brain and how it functions in this book but as completely as she explains the process of what happened, I still found it hard to believe that her brain could be so damaged on one side and so coherent on the other. Then again, you are sure to come away from this book understanding what a remarkable organ the brain is.
