Without Reservations by Alice Steinbach
This travel memoir would be the perfect thing to read in Paris, London, Oxford or Italy. I feared this would be another eat, pray, love thing but Alice is a lot less whiney and every bit as wise. There are many observations she makes and questions she poses that would make good book group talk but it is the descriptions of the places she visits that are so delightful. I also loved that fact the each chapter begins with an insightful postcard that she sends to herself as a reminder of the totally wonderful time she is having. I am sooo borrowing that idea.

I read this book a few years ago, and I have never forgotten it! I loved it.
ReplyDeleteI wish that Alice would write another.
If she has done so, Please let me know.
I know that Alice Stienbach did write another book following 'Without Reservation' and it was very interesting...But I am still wondering about a further book?
ReplyDeleteFurther to my previous comments.
ReplyDeleteI now own a Kindle, and would love to be able to download 'Without Reservations'
Then, I could just press he button and read it at ransom.
I keep trying Amazon, but so far, no download!
